Yesterday around 5pm I started to feel "funny". I had an upset tummy ALL day, so I just assumed that was the problem.. around 6:30pm or so, I started having irregular uncomfortable contractions... I took a hot bath, ate dinner and relaxed for a while. At 8pm they started getting more regular, by 8:30pm they were coming every 4 and a half minutes and lasting for 45 seconds. I called L&D and they said since I am a VBAC candidate to come in and get checked. I had to get Allen settled in with my older brother watching him, and I quickly packed a hospital bag just in case(I know, I know I should have already had it packed. lesson learned).
We get to the hospital around 9pm. They hook me up to the monitors to watch the baby and contractions. I started having them again at around 9:30 or so. They started off just a little uncomfortable. The RN came in and checked my cervix, I am 1cm dilated(at my last check at 37 weeks I was completely closed.. I know 1cm isn't much but still, it's more than I ever dilated on my own with my first pregnancy). At around 10:00 the RN brought me a big cup full of ice water and she told me they wanted me to drink as many of them as possible.. I drank 2 back to back.. as my bladder got full the contractions got MUCH worse, I was holding Tyler's hand and whimpering. This went on for a while, but they never really started coming super regular, or with any type of pattern.
I got checked again at 11:00pm and I had no cervical change so they discharged me and told me to take it easy and if the contractions come back stronger/more frequent to come back in.. but they said they really want my baby to cook for another week.. so we'll see!
My 39 week appointment is next Tuesday. I hope I have dilated more by then, and we can get labor going! I am so ready to have my precious baby in my arms!
My mom is on her way up from florida now. She'll be spending the next 3 weeks here to help out with Allen and the new baby. Tyler's mother will be coming up as soon as I go into real labor, and my dad plans on flying in as well. I'm excited to spend time with our families!
My mom went to one of the really nice consignment stores in Florida and found a Baby Trend Nursery Center for $64, instead of $125 new. It has the MP3 adapter to play music for the baby, a bassinet, changing table and I'm so thankful she got a great deal on it! She also found me a boppy pillow for $14 instead of $28! Its pink, so I want to make a cover for it. Hopefully when my mom gets here she can find the bobbin case for the sewing machine, or we can go to the sewing machine store to try and find one. I really want to start sewing for real!
I have to finish up last minute christmas shopping when my mom gets here too, I need a few more things for Allen, like his stocking stuffers, and a few small toys. I also want to get a few things for my brother as well.. then I need to wrap them! I have been procrastinating a lot..
I also need to finish washing all of our baby clothes, wash and make sure my cloth diapers are prepped, and get everything organized put away... I have been seriously slacking!
.. I feel like an "elitist" every time I see pictures of kids in disposable diapers I cringe and am so happy my baby will have a fluffy butt!
